About mainly play

New to mainly play? Discover who we are, what we do and find your local mainly play group.

Every week of the school year, play and story, with a little bit of music, along with a lot of laughter and joy combines in a place we call, ‘mainly play’. It’s the chance for you and your child to build that very important foundation of attachment that contributes to their secure well-being. You’ll find friendship and encouragement; you’ll find that village to help you raise your child. Come along … we’d like to get to know you

Find a group

To join a mainly play, search based on your location. Then phone the local leader who will tell you the up-to-date details about time and cost. That way, you arrive connected with someone right from the start!

Let's go shopping

After attending mainly play sessions, your child might ask to read the story … again. We have the same books you’ll have enjoyed at the session. Or you might find yourself humming a tune but not remembering the words! We’ve collected together books to read to your child, music and puppets, books on parenting, gift items and more

Growing and reaching
Every week, mothers call up to ask where their local mainly music or mainly play is located. They have been to the website but every group in their area is full. We need to help more groups establish. Your donation will assist us make this happen, which provides more families the chance to experience mainly music or mainly play, more children develop in their skills, and more families find friendship and a caring community.
School connections
Through the learning and development within a mainly music session, children will arrive at school with literacy and numeracy skills they would otherwise not have had. And their families will have skills too through participating, together, in the sessions.
Families at risk
We're connecting with families who don't always see the value of mainly music sessions first off - but when they attend other services provided by agencies and participate, their smiles return as they connect with their child. It fills mum's life and develops the bond with her children.
